Arabic Language Facts:

  • Spoken by 120 million people in the Middle East and North Africa.
  • There are two main types of Arabic:
    • Classical Arabic
    •  Modern Standard Arabic
  • Each Arabic speaking country or region has its own version of informal spoken Arabic 
  • Has 28 letters
  • Letters are written from right to left
  • Letters change depending on whether they appear at the beginning, middle, end or alone
  • Numerals are written left to right
